History and Objectives
Founded and registered as an incorporated society in 2010, the Mid Canterbury Mountain Bike Club was started as local riders began to build extensions onto the council river trail walkway along the Ashburton River. A group of the riders got together and formed the club. Since then they have extended the track all the way to Melrose and Trevors Roads in both directions creating a 12km one way loop with a Skills Park at the main entrance. The club works with the landowners, Ashburton District Council and Environment Canterbury, to continually extend and improve the tracks. Aside from developing track, the club has been holding a 6 hour race since 2013 which usually sells out attracting over 350 riders from all over the South Island, holds regular chocolate fish races and more recently skills sessions.
Our objectives are to:
The clubs Annual General Meeting is held every September where all committee members retire and a new committee of 6-10 is elected (either previous or new committee members can stand).
